Dietary Causes of Disease

All chronic illness, and most acute illness, have to do with maldigestion. Maldigestion may not always be obvious, but it can cause fermentation and putrefaction reactions in the intestines, which result in gas and bloating.

These reactions produce toxins and irritants that are absorbed through the intestines and into the bloodstream. The blood is then carrying a high amount of metabolic toxins and irritants to other areas of the body. This is the cause of chronic inflammation.

The presence of toxins, irritants, and inflammation especially affect organs and body systems that are under stress. This is the basis for most disease.

To heal, the first step is to remove the cause. The two major causes of maldigestion are diet and stress. Dietary causes have several aspects and can be approached in several ways:

  1. Identify and remove specific foods that are not well-tolerated

  2. Correct nutritional imbalances in the diet

  3. Select more easily digestible foods and prepare them in more easily digestible ways

  4. Construct an individualized diet which is more tolerable and nutritious

Changes in the diet may require life-habit changes and may be difficult. Dietary changes are the most efficient way to health because the right diet rids the body of metabolic toxins and irritants.

At QC Natural Health, food intolerance evaluations are a mainstay to the practice. If you want more information about finding your food intolerances, feel free to reach out!
